Ingredients
  • 1 burger bun (toasted)
  • 1 thick 2-4cm slice of firm tofu
  • 2 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1 thick slice fresh pineapple
  • Mixed salad leaves
  • 1 spring onion (finely chopped; you can use red onion if you prefer)
  • 2 slices tomato
  • Mayonnaise
  • Marinade
  • 1 tablespoon dark soya sauce
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • Sesame seeds
Instructions
  1. Mix the marinade ingredients together and fully coat the tofu steak, leaving it in the marinade until you are ready to pan fry. If you want the tofu to absorb more flavour, marinade it overnight. 

  2. Toast bun and set aside.

  3. Get all your salad prepped and ready to dress your bun.

  4. Drizzle some mayonnaise at the bottom of the bun, then add the salad leaves, tomato, pineapple, a slice of cheese and drizzle more mayonnaise.

  5. On a medium-high heat, fry the tofu in a non-stick pan for two to three minutes each side. When you turn the tofu over, add the other slice of cheese on top of the tofu so it can melt.

  6. Remove from the heat and place on the dressed bun.

  7. Add more salad leaves, tomato, and onions.

  8. Drizzle again with mayonnaise and the remaining marinade.
