Fire on the Water ‘Beach Editon’ offers incredible value to Great Yarmouth’s newest October Half Term event.
The hugely successful Fire on the Water event returns to Great Yarmouth’s famous sandy Central Beach for the 2nd year, 22- 29 October from 6pm to 10pm.
The organisers have introduced the option for attendees to explore the fire structures more intimately, allowing audiences to freely wander in the space rather than follow a set path.
This year, all ticket holders will have access to free parking across six car-parking sites in Great Yarmouth.
New for 2022 includes the new Central Beach location and to supplement the atmosphere, there will be areas to relax, watch performances and live music with warm refreshments and hot food available from the newly introduced Beer Tent, ‘Embar’.
There will also be some fantastic making workshops included in the ticket price that are family-friendly and allow the chance to create a special memento.
Joe Mackintosh, director of Out There Arts the charity behind the festival, said: “Fire on the Water offers incredible value – obviously that’s really important to everyone right now – it’s important for people to fully understand just how good value this is and make the most of it.
“Out There Arts is a charity that wants to engage as many people as possible with incredible high-quality arts experiences. We are selling tickets on a ‘pay what you can’ basis with different pricing levels that people can choose from based on their ability to pay. This starts from £3 upwards and that includes free parking that would normally cost you £8, even without a totally amazing event to go with it! The full costs of producing the event are getting on for £150,000 and this year we have much, much less subsidy supporting the event and so ticket sales are essential to the charity breaking even and being able to do the event again next year and hopefully on an annual basis.”
On 26 October between 7-8pm there will also be a ‘Relaxed Hour’ for those sensitive to noise and light. Visitors need to call or e-mail to book this slot. An accessible route for pushchairs, and wheelchairs and mobility scooters will be available across all event dates.
Fire on the Water’s success last year was partly due to its innovative concept located on the Venetian Waterways. This year’s experience on the beach will be delivered in an exciting new way allowing our visitors to explore the fire structures more intimately, allowing audiences to freely wander in the space rather than follow a set path. Out There Arts helped produce a wide array of installations from shadow puppet and light installations to fire sculptures with which visitors will be able to enjoy again this year with a few surprise new installations in the works, including a new installation – a fire-breathing dragon!
Out There Arts is developing measures to minimise the environmental impact of the event and has built a reputation in producing artistically diverse, high quality and accessible events to enormous popularity and acclaim.
Much of its work is based and developed in historic Great Yarmouth but also collaborates internationally, introducing the town to a diverse tapestry of art and culture. Fire on the Water continues that ambition into the autumn months, extending the town’s cultural offer.
Out There Arts are responsible for last year’s smash hit event that attracted over 38,000 visitors, along with event partners Great Yarmouth Borough Council, Freshly Greated, Interreg Experience and sponsors Visit Great Yarmouth, are planning on making a few key changes this year to keep the experience as fresh as ever.
