Jarrold introduces Store Folk

A new online marketplace of artisan businesses and local producers being celebrated by Norwich’s much-loved department store.

The past few years has seen a strong shift in our shopping habits – moving away from larger national chains and fast fashion to seeking out unique and quality items closer to home. How we shop is now part of us leading a more sustainable, community-led lifestyle.

Independent and established business, Jarrold are seeking to champion the individual and the inspiring, the artisan and the eclectic from across Norfolk with their new online venture, Jarrold Store Folk.

Featuring a number of artisan producers, Jarrold Store Folk promises to be a wide-ranging shopping destination with products from home and lifestyle, fashion and beauty and food and beverage, all in one place as a dedicated area on the Jarrold website. Gift buying will no longer be a difficult task with the wide range of bespoke items on offer – suiting a variety of styles and budgets and all

Jarrold General Manager John Adams said: “Working with local producers on Jarrold Store Folk is an amazing stage in the development of our business but also a great way to celebrate Norfolk and it’s artisans. Our customers are proud of their county and invest their time to find local brands, and Store Folk will be jam-packed with the very best that Norfolk has to offer.”

Store Folk products include beautifully styled candles which are vegan-friendly and plastic-free, a range of eco-friendly plates which are handcrafted in rural Norfolk and award-winning luxury beauty products dedicated to artistry, well and sustainability. The community of like-minded small producers are all proud of their county, which is what makes Store Folk extra special – it’s all about being home-grown.

“It is important to support your high street, and it’s important to support small, local brands – so with Store Folk, you can do both,” says Danni, from Mindful Mixology who are part of the Store Folk community. “It’s so lovely to be part of a very small group of wonderful artisanal producers based here in Norfolk and is a fabulous example of brands and companies adapting and moving forward.”

Jarrold Store Folk will be available online at Jarrold.co.uk from Friday 3 September and as part of a pop-up market available in store from the end of September.

More about Jarrold:

Through the reigns of nine monarchs, massive changes in the world of retail and other businesses, and two World Wars, Jarrold has played a part in the lives of generations of Norfolk families.

The roots of the Jarrold business were in shopkeeping with a grocers and drapers opening in 1770.

Throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, Jarrold developed to become a leading printer and publisher including the first edition of one of the most famous children’s books of all time, Anna Sewell’s Black Beauty, published by Jarrold in 1878.

Today the business is concentrated on retail with the flagship department store on London Street, Norwich, offering a unique and contemporary shopping experience over five floors, offering a stunning choice of products from fashion and beauty, home and lifestyle, books, stationery and toys as well as three restaurants, a coffee bar, wine bar and seafood bar, in addition to a well-stocked Deli. Further stores include Art & Stationery on Exchange Street, Jarrold Intersport and The Granary as well as branches in Cromer and Wymondham.
